The Grass is Dead are a force of Bluegrass and Grateful Dead music.  Pickin’ and grinnin’ is what they do best, and they have been adapting Grateful Dead songs in their own bluegrass style since 1998. 

Smoke n' Bones will follow.  This band places an emphasis on original material and arrangements and creates a diverse sound strongly rooted in Soul and Funk, often venturing into the realms of Jazz, Afro Beat, and Reggae. 

The early success and quick rise of the group are no surprise. Recipient of 8 Best of New Orleans awards under his own name and with various projects, guitarist, Billy Franklin aims to have Smoke N' Bones provide the audience with an authentic cultural experience.
