When Karm Trygg, his guitar and five of his friends moved from Omaha, Nebraska to the mountains of Colorado a song was born. Durango, Colorado is just one of 11 tracks on the First Born release. Karm Trygg cut his punk rock teeth in the Vail Valley bands Chance Naked and The Karm & Shmoo Experience. Today Trygg writes original music with his band mates- guitarist/songwriter Tim Campbell, drummer Leo Spaziani and bassist Mark Blickenstaff.

Timmy C, hails from the New York City art scene- an illustrator, creative director, singer, designer and dad. Tim and Karm each have families with two kids living in Minturn, Colorado. In about 2007, the two players would gather local musicians to jam together, raising money for fundraisers, and they found a sound. Today, they collaborate in writing songs and dueling harmonies. Leo is the master of the beat and he and his wife Fran introduced their first-born son Benjamin on February 9th. Musically schooled, Leo carries a degree in music from Berklee College of Music and is a producer for musical hopefuls out of Nashville and Memphis, Tennesee. His music productions have been featured on the hit television show Desperate Housewives. Mark is a Chance Naked alunmni- “Blick”, originally from San Diego, California has a background in nylon string finger-style guitar. His sense of melody and smooth riffs translate nicely to the bass. For fun he teaches school kids physical education- that’s plenty of children for Blick right now.

The common thread among this band of scattered pasts is their love of the mountains. It rings true in the honest lyrics, stories about small-town life and the fun-filled show they bring to the stage.

“Our band believes first hand that you can raise beautiful kids, be a great Dad, and still pursue your other dreams- like music.”
- Karm Trygg.

The band is releasing their new CD titled First Born this March. It has been described as a collaboration of Americana, acoustic punk, country and rock n’ roll. The recording and mixing was done at Mintown Recording Studios in Minturn, Colorado. Schwing Daddy has had the pleasure to open for such artists as Subdudes, Eric Lindell and The Young Dubliners. See them at local Vail venues and touring Colorado this coming year.
